For many years I sought out women who were mature in their Christian walk to mentor me, guide me, and raise me up to maturity in Christ. Yet for all my desire, there was no one available or willing to use their time for my growth. Women are busy. Women have family and friends with needs. Women who are mature in Christ usually have others they are already discipling. There were a few Godly saints who spent time with me when I had specific issues I needed to work through in my walk with God. But never did that one woman come forth who could take me by the hand and really sow into me.
Looking back, I am quite sure that whole situation was orchestrated by God. He needed me to dig in to the Word for myself, and He graciously provided those who could help me when I got stuck.
Now the tide has turned. For several decades I have had women seek counsel from me in the Word of God. I have also had the honor of serving new Christians trying to get their spiritual feet on the ground. Because of my past experience, I have tried to spend as much time as I could serving these women. In the course of time, a picture began to emerge. I have now identified specific common areas where women struggle. In my interaction with them, I find that there is a common foundational piece of understanding of the Word completely missing.
If a contractor begins to build a house before the foundation is laid, before that foundation is complete and solid, then the structure of the house built on that foundation is likely to have major problems sometime in the future. At first the house seems fine, but eventually the fact that the foundation is weak will cause compromise to the structure.
I have found that most Christians are building their Christian lives without a sure foundation, which we know from the Word is Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 3:11). Yes, many proclaim their belief in Jesus, but few have understanding of the key elementary elements of His Kingdom. In time, the structure of their life feels the pressure of crisis, and it will be revealed whether the foundation is weak (built on the sand of human effort) or strong (built on the rock of Christ) (Matthew 7:25-27).
You are here because you love Jesus, proclaim Him as Lord and want to please Him. But deep down inside you know something is missing. Something is out of kilter. You know the Bible is true, but you know that what you read in the Bible doesn’t always line up with how your life goes. And you too are wanting someone to help you, guide you, mentor you to maturity in Christ.
That is my heart’s desire! My service before my King is to help you in your walk with the Lord and show you the missing pieces so that you can be sure to build your life on the complete, whole and strong foundation, that of Jesus Christ. Once the foundation is set, then we will look at how we build the house called “your life” on that foundation, learning to live every day with a Kingdom Purpose in your homes, in your workplace, in your relationships. There is freedom in Jesus Christ! The answers you are looking for are found in Christ Jesus! Now let’s begin finding those answers you need – those missing pieces in your walk with God. But first, put on your seatbelt; this is the beginning of a great adventure!
