The first step to becoming a Kingdom Purpose Woman is to be able to understand the Kingdom itself. After all, how can we live with a Kingdom Purpose if we cannot “see” the Kingdom? And how do we see a Kingdom that cannot be seen with human eyes or understood with human intellect?
It became a mandate for my family that we would walk squarely in midst of the Kingdom of God, and not be hanging out on the fringes. The safe place, the shelter of Most High (Psalms 91:1), is to be in the middle of the Kingdom – in the middle of His Word.
Observe herd animals in the wild (or even domestic). They all have enemies seeking to kill, steal and devour. And which members of the herd do they target? The ones on the fringes of the group. The members of the herd which are in the middle of the group are safest. This may be a weak analogy, but it does exemplify a principle of the Kingdom. The deeper you are in God’s Word, the safer you are in His shelter.
Seek first the Kingdom of God. Matthew 6:33
Therein lies the challenge. I am seeking something that I cannot see with my human eyes nor perceive with my human intellect. How do I seek such a thing?
This is the beginning of a series that is one of the most important teachings I have ever taught. Absolutely, beyond any doubt, this will prove to be a fundamental key to a deeper walk with Jesus Christ. My purpose in this series is to open your eyes to be able to “see” – to perceive – the Kingdom of God and understand how it affects every area of your life.
Why is this important? I mean, why bother?
When you live outside the kingdom of God you live outside the protection and provision of God’s Holy shelter. It is literally the difference between success and disaster in your marriage, your parenting, your workplace, your friendships; those places where the truth of the Kingdom are literally played out. And what of persecution? How will you stand in the face of societal or governmental pressure that rails against what you know is true, if you are not dwelling in His power and His strength?
Without the Kingdom, you can work as hard as you can to have a good marriage and still have a troubled one. You can believe what you read in the Bible and teach the Bible to your children, and still have problem children, or have them grow up and turn away. You can convince yourself that you will not bend to pressure in the workplace or other public areas, yet crumble with the torrent of persecution tests your foundation.
So before we begin to talk about how we live our lives by the Bible, we first have to open your eyes to understanding just what the Kingdom of Jesus Christ really is and how it works. Any discussion about how we live that is not Kingdom-based is merely human reasoning. As we will soon see, human reasoning has no place in the Kingdom of God.
