In the 2 previous lessons we have learned that the Kingdom of God exists outside the 3 dimensional world that we inhabit, and that those other dimensions are very real even though we cannot perceive them with our five senses.
I can imagine your questions, “But really – who cares? What difference does it make if I know about all this? It all sounds a bit scary and strange. I think I will just stick to what I can see.”
Before you seek refuge from the uncertainty of the “unknown” by hiding in the safe seclusion of the “known,” lets remember that we have determined that those other dimensions are real. And what exists in them is real.
What exists in them are angels and hosts of heaven, standing in service to the Most High God, ready to work on His behalf, often for your sake. The Book of Revelation is full of descriptions of some of these beings. (If they sound strange it may be because they are being described as best one can describe multidimensional beings using 3 dimensional terms.)
Also existing in those dimensions are myriads of dangers from other beings serving the enemy who is seeking whom he may devour. This enemy, Satan, has given orders to his minions to steal, kill, and destroy. And they take their orders seriously, causing them to be a clear and present danger to you and your family.
Do you recall the old minefields of previous modern wars? These mines would be buried in the sand just under the surface where soldiers could not see them. They could not see these mines – but they were real. Soldiers would be unaware of the mines, until one of the members of their unit stepped on one. For the poor soul that stepped on one, this was game over. For the rest of the group, this was a sudden awakening to the immediate danger lurking potentially at each footstep.
Imagine, now, walking through that minefield. I call this “life.” Your entire life is nothing more than a walk through a minefield of unseen dimensions full of dangers lurking at each moment.
Now, imagine that there is one who knows where each mine is buried. Imagine you have a walkie-talkie and with it you can communicate with the one who knows every mine, every unseen danger, and can guide you through the dangers potentially unharmed. If I had a walkie-talkie like this I would be certain to keep the batteries charged, the squelch set just right, and to be listening intently to it! I would do everything in my power to be sure that line of communication was always open and functioning.
I believe this is what Paul calls “praying without ceasing.”
This is an effective analogy of why we must understand that there are dimensions beyond what we can see. It reveals the imperative necessity of listening to and obeying God at all times, in all things, no matter the circumstances. You don’t have to know about the dimensions – if you are able to walk according to the Word of God in perfect obedience at all times. But for the rest of us, it paints a picture for us as to why we must believe the Word of God and walk according to it, even when it seems in direct conflict with everything we can see.
Are you beginning now to see a glimpse of the Kingdom of God?
